Yogita Yoga Logo

Our logo was inspired by the symbols representing Shiva and Shakti:

The upside down triangle represents Shiva or cosmic consciousness.  Shiva is also known as the Hindu deity of the Destroyer of Ignorance.  He represents the masculine, eternal, passive and transcendent principle.

The three semi-circles on the top, left and right side of the triangle represent aspects of Shakti.  Shakti embodies the primordial cosmic energy and is also known as the Divine Mother.  She symbolises the feminine, active, immanent and temporal principle.

The top, left and right semi-circles denote the ‘energies’ Iccha (creative desire), Gyaan (knowledge) and Kriya Shakti (action), respectively.

The two “Y”, representing Yogita Yoga, are located in the centre, the home of Para Shakti.  Para (Divine) Shakti (Energy) is the study of accessing divine energy for healing and alignment of the body, mind and spirit.

Through Yoga practice, Yogita Yoga aims to connect with oneself and others through a focused mind and centred body, thereby creating a community that enchants and inspires each other.

How Yogita Yoga came to be…

In early 2007 Evelyn and Andrew met and serendipitously, Andrew introduced Evelyn to yoga while Evelyn showed Andrew how to rock climb on the ’pointy’ end of the rope.  While their paths in rock-climbing and yoga weren’t always on a straight track due to career and householder commitments, over the years they continued to grow and prosper with and from each other.

Two of the key transitions that led Andrew and Evelyn to the shared vision of developing a local yoga community together occurred in 2011, after Andrew went on a 10-day Vipassana retreat and Evelyn, a few months later, embarked on her yoga teacher training in Mysore, India.  Fostering their ideas and dreams for the teaching and practice of yoga’s eight limbs, whilst nurturing and contributing to the community, Andrew and Evelyn established Yogita Yoga.
